Matriculation into the Degree Program

All City Vision College courses are available to anyone with a high school diploma or the equivalent for foreign students.   The college must receive office proof of graduation in the form of a high school or college transcript or GED certificate before a student can begin classes.

Those students who wish to apply the credits earned in City Vision College toward a certificate or degree, must apply to be matriculated into the study program. Those seeking a degree or certificate from City Vision College must submit the following:

1.   Transcripts from other institutions of higher learning the he or she has attended.  These must be official copies sent to City Vision College directly from the schools.  Photocopies will not be accepted.

2.   If the student will be participating in an internship, four personal references are also required.  Use this Reference Form.

3.   Once all application materials are received, including the transcripts of prior educational experiences and all four Reference Forms (if required), a determination will be made as to whether the applicant is eligible for matriculation into the degree or certificate program of the college.

4.   Students seeking a degree from City Vision College will also receive a formal transcript evaluation with an official determination of their status regarding the number of transferring credits and meeting of the General Education requirements.

Transfer Credit Policy

Because City Vision College does not offer a four year program, students who enroll in the degree completion programs must bring transfer credit  from other accredited institutions of higher learning that are recognized by the US Department of Education.  Non-US. institutions must have an accepted foreign equivalent at an institution listed in the International Handbook of Universities.

It is the student's responsibility to contact academic institutions at which they have studied to ask them send an official copy of his or her transcript directly to the City Vision College registrar's office.  These must be official transcripts issued by the college or university.  Photocopies will NOT be accepted.

To obtain the Bachelor of Arts degree in Missions, Bachelor of Science in Nonprofit Management or Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies, students must have earned a total of 120 college credits.  The maximum number of transfer credits which can be accepted for a bachelor's degree is 90.  The final 30 credits must be made up of courses offered by City Vision College, each of which is worth 3 credits.

General Studies Requirements

The required General Education courses must include:

English & Communications 9
Social & Behavioral Sciences   9
Mathematics & Natural Sciences  8
Humanities & Fine Arts 6

See the Transfer Credit Course Classification page to determine how specific courses count apply toward the General Studies requirements.

To learn more about the types of accreditation accepted, the conversion of quarter hours to semester hours and related topics, view our Transfer Credit Policy.

Credit by Examination

City Vision College will accept up to 30 hours of transfer credit earned through these credit by examination programs:

The amount of credit awarded is based on the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for the minimum scores required.

While the degree program is available through City Vision College, students may wish to take individual courses to supplement prior education, to fulfill academic requirements at other institutions, or to enhance their educational background in general.

Students enrolling in courses for the purpose of seeking a degree through another college must meet all normal admission requirements. City Vision College cannot guarantee that its credits will automatically transfer to another post-secondary institution. Acceptability of academic credit can vary from institution to institution. It is the student's responsibility to confirm whether other schools will accept transfer credits from City Vision College.

Requirements for Good Standing

The academic policy of City Vision College is designed to meet ultimately the graduation requirement of a "C" average (2.00 GPA) on all work taken through the college through normal course enrollment. This includes credit-by-examination earned through taking a proctored final exam of a City Vision College course.

To remain in good standing, a student must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average according to the number of credits completed through City Vision College enrollment. The unit of credit is the semester hour. The following minimum grade point averages apply to students seeking a Bachelor in Missions degree:

  • Up to 30 credits 1.50 GPA
  • 31 through 44 credits 1.70 GPA
  • 45 through 59 credits 1.85 GPA
  • 60 credits and above 2.00 GPA

If a student does not participate in a course for three consecutive weeks, he or she will automatically be dropped. At that time a final grade will be posted. If the course is past the fourth week when the automatic drop occurs, the final grade will be an "F" and the student will not be entitled to any refunds.

Attendance is measured by course work submitted not just by a student logging into a course. An actual assignment submitted, posting to a Class Forum or message sent to a professor are the only student activities that count toward attendance.

Academic  Probation

Students who fail to earn the grade point average indicated above will be placed on academic probation for the next 6 credits of study and will subsequently be terminated if the required grade point average is not achieved by the time those 6 credits are completed.

A City Vision College faculty member will provide personal counseling for any student who receives a grade of "F" on any two consecutively completed courses.

While a student's grade point average is computed only on City Vision College work, the average required for good standing is based on the number of credits, from any source, which have been applied to the City Vision College degree.

Grades and Grade Point Averages

Each course is given a final grade with the number of quality points per credit hour assigned as follows:

A grade of Incomplete is given to course work that is not completed within the prescribed course time limits. An "I" is computed as an "F" for determining grade point average. Students may repeat courses in order to earn a higher grade and more quality points. Courses may be repeated only once.

The credits will be counted only once, and the grade earned the second time will supersede the earlier grade. The record of the earlier grade will remain on the transcript, although it will not enter into the computation of the grade point average.

Dropping Courses

Students have until the end of the 4th week of the term to drop courses.  Courses that are dropped by the end of the second week of classes do not appear on the transcript.  Courses dropped after the second week  result in a mark of "W."

No course may be dropped after the 4th week. If a students stops working on a course after the 4th week, they will receive credit for all work already submitted but the final grade will always calculate to a grade of "F."

In exceptional cases students may petition to withdraw from a course after the 4th week. Such petitions are rarely approved.

The names of students who have officially withdrawn from a course will appear with a pre-assigned mark of W in the Final Grade column.  Also note that students may not withdraw from a course in which they have committed or have been accused of committing an academic integrity violation..

Policy on Attendance and Late Assignments

To stay enrolled in a City Vision College course, students must attend all of the weekly class sessions.  Each weekly class session is available to students on Mondays and that session's assignments are usually due by midnight on the following Sunday.

Because this is an online program, attendance is based on the actual submission of course work; i.e. a written assignment, Class Forum posting, or other interaction with the professor.  Simply logging into the online classroom is not counted as attendance.

Important:  If a student fails to participate in a course for three consecutive weekly sessions, he or she will be automatically withdrawn from the class.  If this occurs after the fourth week, the student will receive a grade of "F" and will not be entitled to any type of tuition refund.

Week Eight is the last class session with assignments posted.  All course work must be completed by the student and submitted to the instructor by Friday of the tenth week of the course.  No credit will be given for work submitted after this date.  This policy applies to weekly assignments, plus examinations and final projects.

  • Assignments submitted 3-7 days past the due date will result in the loss of one full letter grade (i.e. "A" becomes a "B")
  • Assignments submitted 8-14 days past the due date will result in the loss of two full letter grades (i.e. "A" becomes a "C")
  • Those submitted over two weeks late will not be graded, but will receive 50% credit, (letter grade “F”).
  • Assignments not turned in at all, will receive no credit, which adversely affects the final course grade.

Extensions will be granted only for exceptional circumstances, such as an illness. Applications for extension must be submitted by email to the instructor at least 2 or more days before the due actual date. If an extension is granted, no other courses may be taken until that course is completed.

Scholastic  Honors

To encourage excellence and high academic achievement by City Vision College students, the following categories of scholastic honors are recognized for students enrolled in the degree program. In order to qualify for any of the categories, a student must complete a minimum of four courses in one calendar year (January through December).

  • President's Honor Roll 4.00
  • Dean's List 3.50 to 3.99
  • Honor Roll 3.20 to 3.493.

Graduation honors are awarded for academic work performed by the student during his undergraduate program. The baccalaureate degree will be conferred as follows:

  • Summa cum Laude 3.90 or above
  • Magna cum Laude 3.75 to 3.89
  • Cum Laude 3.60 to 3.74

The grade point calculation is made on all credits earned from City Vision College and transfer credits through specific enrollment in the degree program in order to qualify for graduation honors.
