General Physics II with Lab (4 credits) (Straighterline.com Transfer Course)

Welcome to the NROC General Physics course. This course is designed to acquaint students with topics in classical electricity and magnetism. The course emphasizes problem solving including calculus, and there are numerous interactive examples throughout helping students to learn about magnetism, electricity, optics, and atomic physics.

You cannot use a pell grant to pay for this class. In addition, these courses do not count toward your half-time or full-time status regarding student loans. These courses are to be used only for Transfer Credit toward a degree from City Vision College. If you take Straighterline Courses, and later attend another college, they will be evaluated as ACE credit from Straighterline, not as courses from City Vision College.

Prerequisites: This course does not have any pre-requisites but StraighterLine does suggest to students that they complete General Calculus I (MAT250) and General Physics I (PHY250) prior to enrolling in this course.

General Physics II with Lab Course Objectives:

After completing this Online Physics Course, you will be able to:

After completing this course, students will be able to understand the basic principles pertaining to classical electricity and magnetism, including topics such as electric charges, Coulombs Law, electrostatics with conductors, moving charges, current, magnetic fields, optics, mirrors and lenses, photons and photoelectric effects, atomic energy levels and topics in nuclear physics. Students will apply these principles to solve practical problems in these areas of study and will gain practical experience and understanding of electricity, waves and optics through exercises and assessments.

Welcome to the NROC General Physics course. This course is designed to acquaint you with topics in mechanics and classical electricity and magnetism. The course covers two semesters. The first semester is devoted to Newtonian mechanics including: kinematics, laws of motion, work and energy, systems of particles, momentum, circular motion, oscillations, and gravitation. The second semester discusses the topics of electricity and magnetism. The course emphasizes problem solving including calculus, and there are numerous interactive examples throughout. You will also gain laboratory experience through interactive lab simulations and wet labs.
