Nonprofit Management Program
The City Vision College Nonprofit Management program prepares individuals to manage the business affairs of non-profit corporations, including foundations, educational institutions, associations, and other such organizations. The focus is business management, principles of accounting and financial management, fund raising, human resources management, social services outreach, and taxation and legal issues that affect non-profit organizations.
The program can be taken in a degree completion format leading to a Bachelor of Science or as a certificate program. To earn the degree the student must earn a total of 120 semester credit hours, a minimum of thirty must be from City Vision College. A total of thirty hours may come through credit-by-examination. There are also 32 hours of General Studies required. Ten courses must be taken to earn the certificate. View our Academic Policies for more information.
By completing the City Vision College Nonprofit Management program, students will:
- Understand the basic principles involved in the management of nonprofit organizations
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors and the management team
- Develop practical managerial skills
- Understand basic financial and accounting terms
- Understand the marketing process for nonprofit organizations
- Learn the basics of employment law, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Understand licensing, permits, and taxes
- Explore ways to maximize fundraising opportunities
- Develop successful leadership style
- Learn the basics of the budgeting process
- Gain confidence and improve communication skills

City Vision College is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council and is an affiliate member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education. DETC is recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
CFRE-Approved Courses - These courses have been approved for CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) continuing education credits:
- Fund Raising Basics– 45 hours
- Intermediate Fund Raising– 45 hours
- Financial Accounting and Reporting– 45 hours
- Nonprofit Administration– 45 hours
- Financial Planning for Nonprofits– 45 hours
- Ministry Management– 45 hours
- Human Resources– 45 hours
Completing two of these courses provides CFRE applicants with the 80 hours of required education for initial certification. One City Vision College course fulfills the 45 hours of continuing education for renewal of the CFRE, which is required every three years. City Vision College hopes that the CFRE training program will help ministries develop homegrown fundraisers.
