Experience

John B. Savage, EMBA, has been involved with various aspects of leadership development and fundraising for over 25 years. Prior to serving as Vice President with The Frank Group, Inc., he spent one-third of his career in commercial finance, one-third in non-profit management, and one-third as a consultant and teacher to leaders in non-profit, pastoral and family business environments. He is the Founder of Des Moines Creek Classical Christian Academy, as well as the Seattle-based Strategic Leadership Institute.

During his nonprofit days, John was recruited to serve as the first Director of Gift Planning for Los Angeles Mission, and subsequently recruited to serve as the Vice President for Resource Development and Public Affairs at Union Rescue Mission, also in Los Angeles.  During his term at URM, he oversaw an annual fund that grew to nearly $10 million per year, a public/private capital campaign of $30 million, a national celebration of their 100th Anniversary, and other dynamic growth strategies and achievements, including the formal launch of the URM Foundation.  He served as an AGRM National Convention Host in Anaheim, California.

His passion for leadership is demonstrated by having chaired United Way’s Hispanic Leadership Institute, producing a mentor/protégé audio training as well as a stewardship audio training, and hosting Leadership Lifestyles, a daily radio program in Seattle, which featured interviews with Christians in leadership. He also served as a Committee Chair for the Seattle MIT Enterprise Forum which emphasizes growth strategies for new and emerging enterprises.

His work and clients includes entrepreneurial start-ups to organizations celebrating their 100th anniversary. They have included private, church, and family foundations, rescue missions, camps, large and small churches, overseas ministries, hospital foundations, inner-city ministries to the poor, as well as family businesses owned by Christians.

As a teacher, leadership coach, and strategic thinker, John most enjoys supporting emerging leaders and visionaries in the development of successful leadership, management and fundraising strategies.
