Dietrich Bonhoeffer Biography (Theopedia)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906 – 1945) was a German Lutheran theologian and pastor. He was also a participant in the resistance movement against Nazism. Bonhoeffer was involved in various schemes formulated by members of the German Military Intelligence Office to assassinate Adolf Hitler and in March 1943 was arrested, imprisoned and ultimately hanged just before the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Alice Mildred Cable

Alice Mildred Cable  (21 February 1878-30 April 1952) was born in Guildford, she was a British Protestant Christian missionary in China. She served with the China Inland Mission.

After over 20 years of missionary service in Huozhou, Shanxi, when they were certainly no longer young, Mildred together with Francesca French, and Evangeline French travelled throughout Gansu and Xinjiang. They became known together as the "trio".

Wilfred Thomason Grenfell

Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell, KCMG (February 28, 1865-October 9, 1940) was a medical missionary to Newfoundland and Labrador.

He was born at Parkgate, Wirral and married Anne Elizabeth Caldwell MacClanahan of Chicago, Illinois in 1909. She died in 1938. They had three children and retired to Vermont after his work in Newfoundland.
