Mission IT Roles

There are a number of IT roles within missions. There are a number of ways to look at the roles of IT, one of which is through looking at the locations where IT is based.

Home Office

Description

The Home office for a mission organization is usually located in a technologically advalced location. The home office is responsible for the overall functionality of the organization, donor comunication, coordination of outreaches, advertising, and long-term planning.

Role of IT

IT from the Home office is predominantly used as in a support role for the work of the home office. They have web pages for the organization (advertizing), email (coordination, donor relations, etc), home office databases (financial tracking), and other similar tools.

Organizations that help

In the technologically advanced areas there are a number of computer consulting organizations targeted towards missions. They range from providing missions specific tools, providing lessened cost, to providing work for free.
