A study of financial accounting techniques and an in-depth examination of the uses of accounting information from a management perspective. Students examine the preparation and analysis of financial reports for control, costing, methods, and systems of planning and control. Emphasis is placed on the use of computerized tools in the preparation and analysis of accounting reports.
Available to undergraduates with 90+ credits and a 3.0+ GPA.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Explain job costing and process costing methodologies along with financial analysis in nonprofits (Bloom’s taxonomy level 2).
- Apply analytical techniques of cost behaviors to operational decision making to optimize the value of the organization (Bloom’s taxonomy level 3).
- Demonstrate the value of budgetary planning and control processes as a significant management tool for the optimization of organizational value (Bloom’s taxonomy level 2).
- Relate planning and auditing processes for capital investments to management controls (Bloom’s taxonomy level 2).
