The purpose of this course is to gain the knowledge and skills to excel as a peer support specialist as evidenced by possessing the knowledge necessary to pass the various state and national certification exams. Students will also begin the process of applying for certification in their state and complete a portfolio outlining in detail the remaining steps to complete in order to become certified.

They will evaluate an organization’s culture and how its cultural distinctive impact and relate to its customers, and employees and overall market.
This course presents theology as a unified narrative: the story of a sovereign God redeeming a people for Himself through Christ’s victory over Satan, sin, and death, and restoring creation to the shalom (wholeness and peace) of the Kingdom of God.

It covers four major subjects: the nature of Biblical inspiration, the technique of Biblical hermeneutics, the genres of Biblical literature, and the tools that are used to interpret Scripture.
This course provides a general introduction to the Old Testament Scriptures – their historical context, interpretation, primary teachings, and relevance for today.
There can be no question that the most critical and important subject to master in the life of a Christian leader is the actual person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. No other subject is as significant or controversial as the meaning of his life and ministry. This class is designed to introduce you to a “life of Jesus” survey that concentrates on the historical accounts in the Gospels, beginning at the announcement of his birth to his ascension after his death at Calvary. It will also explore how that life is witnessed to through Paul’s letters, the General Epistles, and the book of Revelation.
We live in an epidemic of addiction to sex, pornography, online affairs, gaming, the Internet and Facebook–all addictions that are exacerbated by technology. These fit into a larger category of addictions called behavioral addictions which also includes: codependency, eating, shopping, exercising and work addiction. This course is intended to equip students with an interdisciplinary approach to minister to those with technology-related addictions combining lessons from the disciplines of counseling/psychology, theology, public health and technology.
This course will help students learn the theory behind prior learning assessment and to develop a portfolio for prior learning assessment. Completion of this course enables the student to have up to 30 credits evaluated for prior learning assessment based on the portfolio developed in this course.
This course will introduce students to the biblical and theological basis for a Christian theology of technology and to the concepts essential to the reflective life and practice of the Christian technologist.
This is a practice-based course in which students will apply the concepts learned throughout the degree program by participating in an internship. The primary course objective is to serve as a means of practicing skills and applying theoretical learning in a clinical position. When applicable the course is customized to meet the requirements of the certification board in the student’s state. Attention is also given to personal and professional growth in preparation for serving in a counseling role.
