Federal government regulations permit a student who is not making Satisfactory Academic Progress to submit an appeal if one of the following has affected their academic performance: "the death of a relative, an injury or illness of the student, or other special circumstances” - 34 CFR 668.34(a)(9)(ii).
In the section below, please provide a detailed explanation of the circumstance that has affected your academic performance in the previous term. In order to be approved,
your appeal must also state what has changed in your circumstances that will
eliminate the problem that caused you not to meet satisfactory academic
progress standards. The Dean will review your explanation and, if it is approved, you will be placed on Academic Probation, in which you can still receive financial aid.
Also, if your explanation is approved, you will be issued an academic plan which you must follow in order to continue to receive aid until you are once again making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
We do not request documentation for your appeal at this time, but may contact you if documentation is necessary.
