We, TechMission, Inc., doing business as City Vision University (“CVU”), provide Services to students and prospective students.

Your privacy is important to us. It is our policy to protect your Personal Information (as defined below) and to use it in accordance with this Privacy Statement. The policy below covers our website located at www.cityvision.edu, our course management system in Canvas, our student information system in Populi, the services our staff provide to CVU students and prospective students.

By using this website, you are consenting to our collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. 

Types of Data Collected

We use technologies like cookies (small files stored by your browser), web beacons, or unique device identifiers to anonymously identify your computer or device so we can deliver a better experience. Our systems also anonymously log information like your browser, operating system and IP address.

If you consent to provide personally identifiable information to us, such as your name, address, phone number or email address, we may store that. Phone numbers will only be used for SMS with your consent. 

Personally identifiable information, including mobile phone numbers, will not be sold to, shared with, or used by third parties/affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties under any circumstances.

We do not use or collect your precise geographic location. Your relative location is collected by the IPstack-Web-API based on your IP address, information which is already provided to all web sites, and is sent to the IPStack GeoIP service to identify your possible country and state, to improve your user experience. The country and state data is stored in a cookie called “geoip-detect-result”, which will be deleted after one day by your browser, and is only retained by us if you consent to receive personal communications from us.

We collect but do not link personal and activity data.

Our systems are not designed to associate personal information with your activities (such as pages you view or things you click on or search for), except if you become a student with CVU.

Children and Parents

We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 16 without parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly obtain parental consent or remove the information.

You can request to see your personal data.

You can sign into your account (if you have one) to see any personally identifiable information we have stored, such as your name, email, address or phone number. You can also contact us by email to request to see this information, using the contact information listed below.

We keep personal data until you request its deletion.

Excepting CVU students (who are subject to government and accreditor regulations on data retention), we remove personally identifiable information (such as your name, address, email or phone number) associated with your account promptly after you delete your account, or request its deletion. We may retain non-personally identifiable information indefinitely.

We don’t share your personal data with third parties for marketing/promotional purposes.
We do not share, sell, rent, swap or authorize any third party or affiliate to use personally identifiable information (such as name, address, email or phone) for marketing or promotional purposes.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. We DO NOT sell mobile data.Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Ad companies collect anonymous data. You can opt out.
Ad companies may use and collect anonymous data about your interests to customize content and advertising here and in other sites and applications. Analytics companies may access anonymous data (such as your IP address or device ID) to help us understand how our services are used. They use this data solely on our behalf.   • Google Analytics
    Google Analytics is a web analytics tool that helps website owners understand how visitors engage with their website. Google Analytics customers can view a variety of reports about how visitors interact with their website so they can improve it. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors.

Detailed steps to protect personal information
We take reasonable administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to safeguard and protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. This includes using HTTP Secure (HTTPS) communications for all web-based communications.

FERPA Compliance

When handling student education records as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), CVU will abide by the limitations and requirements imposed by 34 CFR 99.33(a). See CVU’s FERPA Policy for more details.

Gramm-Leach-Billey Act (GLBA)

When handling “Non-public information” records (NPI), CVU will implement and maintain the safeguards required of “Service Providers” set forth in 16 CFR 314.4(d) of the FTC Safeguards rule.

Information Shared with Third-Party Service Providers

We may engage third- party service providers to work with us to administer and provide the Services, including service providers who process payments. These third-party service providers have access to your PII only for the purpose of performing services on our behalf. In these cases we restrict through written agreements how these service providers may use the Personal Information to which they have access. They DO NOT use your PII for marketing/promotional purposes.

No other special situations
Apart from the the categories described under FERPA, there are no special circumstances under which we would disclose your data to third parties without your explicit prior consent. We DO NOT sell mobile data.

These links are provided for your convenience only and do not reflect any endorsement by CVU with respect to the provider of the sites or the quality, reliability or any other characteristic of the linked site. CVU is not responsible in any manner for any matter associated with the linked site, including, the content provided on the site or your reliance on it. Your use of any linked site is solely at your own risk. Furthermore, your use of any linked site is subject to the terms and conditions applicable to that site.

We may change this Privacy Statement from time to time. If we do make a change, we will post the revised Privacy Statement on this Site.
